Danny’s Diary– Nov. 26, 2012

I hope that everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday.  We just concluded our BYS Prep Basketball League before the break.  We had nearly 150 participants from over 20 towns and communities competing in the program. In our championship final and consolation games, half of the contests went into overtime.  What I am most proud of is the spirit and culture which we created over the past three months.  In our initial presentation to the parents and players, we stressed that this was going to be a player centered league with the dominant noise originating from the player’s own voices and the squeaking of the sneakers on the court.  I could not be happier with our results.  From the players, their parents, the coaches, and our staff of referees I heard the same comments:  “This league is different,” ‘The games were a lot of fun,”  “I really enjoyed watching my son play and compete.” I wish to thank my partners John and Vin for being on the same page and delivering a program which has made a difference in our local basketball community.  I would also like to thank our coaches Ural, Elon, Henry, Shayla, Spencer, and Nesta for bringing their passion for basketball to the court every single Sunday.
